Menhaden may not be on the menu at your favorite fish fry, but they happen to be the ocean’s peanut butter and jelly of the sea, according to Dr. Carl Safina of The Blue Ocean Institute. In this episode of National Geographic’s web series, Cook-Wise, noted chef Barton Seaver spends a day on the Chesapeake Bay with Dr. Safina to learn more about the small oily fish we call Menhaden.
